EU Commissioner position proposals by country. Romania chooses Victor Negrescu

Ursula von der Leyen, the current European Commission president, is in the process of forming a new European Commission. So far, 22 countries have put forward candidates for the commissioner position, including Romania, which has put forward Social Democrat Victor Negrescu.

However, according to Politico, five countries – Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Italy and Portugal – have not yet expressed their proposals.

– Austria: Magnus Brunner, Minister of Finance;

– Croatia: Dubravka Suica, European Commissioner for Democracy and Population;

– Cyprus: Costas Kadis, Interim Dean, Frederick University of Cyprus;

– Czech Republic: Josef Sikra, Minister of Industry and Trade;

– Estonia; Kaya Kallas, former Prime Minister of Estonia;

– Finland: Henna Virkkunen, Member of the European Parliament;

– France: Thierry Breton, EU Commissioner for Internal Market;

– Germany: Ursula von der Leyen, current President of the European Commission;

– Greece: Apostolos Tzitzikostas, Governor of Central Macedonia;

– Hungary: Oliver Vargelyi, European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement;

– Ireland: Michael McGrath, Minister of Finance;

– Latvia: Valdis Dombrovskis, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission;

– Lithuania: Andrius Kubilius, Member of the European Parliament;

– Luxembourg: Christophe Hansen, Member of the European Parliament;

– Malta: Glenn Micallef, former chief of staff to the Maltese prime minister;

– Poland: Piotr Serafin, Ambassador of al Polishiei la UE;

– Romania: Victor Negrescu, Vice-President of the European Parliament;

– Slovakia: Maros Sefcovic, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission;

– Slovenia: Tamaz Vesel, lawyer, former President of the Slovenian Court of Audit;

– Spain: Teresa Ribera, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Ecological Transition;

– Sweden: Jessica Rosewall, Minister for European Affairs.
