The previous record holder was a different version of the same character from the same game: The Ka prototype of one of the rarest and most famous Star Wars games, the rocket-shooting action figure of bounty hunter Boba Fett, was purchased for $525,000 (about 180 million forints) in June.
That is what this even rarer piece has now achieved. The prototype was put up for auction at Goldin Auction House in the United States. “J-slot” version was made by the then-Kenner Toy Company and featured an alternative rocket launcher Boba Fett’s backpack.
Only 100 of the dolls were produced, but production eventually ceased because another toy with a similar mechanism was recalled from commercial circulation due to being a choking hazard. Only a handful of pieces were sold to private individuals. So there are very few that can be found in the world today.
