Seven Bulgarian players qualified for the singles round of 16 at the ITF J30 junior and women’s championship in Skopje (North Macedonia).
Alexander Tolev, Nikolay Bunchev, Dimitar Chilov and Plamen Kolev qualified for the round of 16 in the junior category, while in the women’s category Alexandra Rangelova, Alexandra Lyapeva and Nikol Ivanova advanced.
Alexander Tolev, ranked 9th in the junior group, defeated Nicolas Zachos of Greece 6:4, 6:2.
Nikolay Bunchev eliminated the planned No. 10 player of Timothy Bezar (Austria) 6:1, 3:6, 6:2.
Dimitar Chilov, the 16th player in the program, defeated Kristian Yanev (North Macedonia) 5:7, 7:6(4), 6:4.
Qualifier Plamen Kolev defeated fifth-ranked Marko Dragovic (Serbia) 2:6, 7:6(3), 6:2 in the program match.
Dobromir Manolov lost to No. 1 Stefanos Pournaropoulos (Greece) 3:6, 6:3, 4:6.
Samuil Peshev lost to No. 11 Teodor Davidov (USA) 2:6, 2:6.
Petar Ivanchev lost to the second-placed Samim Filiz (Türkiye) 0:6, 4:6.
Vasil Rusanov lost to No. 12 Ognen Jagrovic (Serbia) 0:6, 2:6 in the program.
In the women’s event, fifth seed Alexandra Rangelova defeated Austrian player Lara Linder 2:6, 6:3, 6:2.
Alexandra Lyapeva defeated No. 9 Abrie Wong (Singapore) 6:2, 7:5 in the program
Nikol Ivanova eliminated Romanian Sofia-Maria Nakov 6:3, 6:2.
Qualifier Veronika Zhelezova lost to No. 10 Ezgi Ozcelik (Turkey) 4:6, 4:6 in the program match.
Vasyl Rusanov, Dimitar Chirov, Alexander Torev, Alexandra Liapeva, Kristina Vassileva and Alexandra Langelova also qualified for the doubles quarterfinals.
