Seven civilians were killed at Debrekaranyo Mahamalem Church in Motakaranyo town in East Gojam region last Friday when Fano militants attacked government security forces, according to the church pastor and residents who were there at the time.
Residents said the dead were six workers and a model student who were digging a grave for a nun who died a day earlier.
