Spanish attacking midfielder Alexia Putras has signed a new contract with FC Barcelona until 2026, the Spanish Liga club announced on Tuesday.
The 2021 and 2022 Ballon d’Or winner, 30, who won the 2023 Women’s World Cup with Spain, is a graduate of Barca’s youth academy and her contract expires at the end of the season.
Barcelona said in a statement: “Barcelona and Alexia Putras have reached an agreement under which the player will stay at the club for two more seasons until June 30, 2026, with the option of a third year. ”
Putras is considered one of the best players in women’s football. She scored 189 goals in 424 games. She is the top scorer in the Barcelona team and the most decorated player in the history of Barcelona, with a total of 29 Championships, including two Women’s Champions League titles.
Putras will be bidding for her third European Cup title on Saturday when Barca face Lyon in the final in Bilbao.
