Cash donations from the Taliban are negligible

The Taliban’s Martyrs and Disabled Ministry said more than 653,000 orphans, widows and disabled people have been registered.

The numbers registered so far include nearly 370,000 orphans, more than 94,000 widows and nearly 200,000 disabled widows, both men and women, the Taliban ministry said at a news conference in Kabul on Wednesday.

But these are not the final statistics.

An official from the Taliban’s Martyrs and Disabled Department also told a news conference that the registration of these people is ongoing, so the total number of Afghan orphans, disabled people and widows is still unknown.

According to Taliban ministry officials, they removed more than 28,000 people from the ministry’s list of cash aid recipients last year.

According to them, these people either hold documents in the name of widows, orphans or disabled people, or their identities have changed and they are no longer widows, orphans or disabled people.

Abdul Hakim Haqqani, deputy minister of the Taliban government’s Martyrs and Disabled Affairs, said: “Under the approved cash assistance program, a total of 15 billion 407 million 382,780 Afghans were allocated as assistance in the past year. Cash is transferred once a month.”

According to the Taliban’s Martyrs and Disabled Affairs Department, they pay 2,000 Afghanis to each orphan and 2,000 to 5,000 Afghanis to each widow, depending on their economic status, every six months.

Although officials of the Taliban’s Martyrs and Disabled Department did not reveal the amount of wages they pay to the disabled, a Kabul resident who said he, his sister and brother were all blind criticized the Taliban government’s way of helping him.

He said that no card had been issued to his blind brother, that he and his sister were homeless and that the income they received from this arm of the Taliban government was irregular and less than what they had received in the previous republic.

“We are three blind. One of my brothers doesn’t have a card, but my other sister has one. Since the Taliban came, they haven’t paid her any salary. They said her card was lost. “Last year, we went again and finally found her card. We paid her salary temporarily. We paid her 10,000 rupees once, but she stopped paying. It’s been three years since the Taliban came. We have received two installments of salary, but we haven’t received much.”

A resident of Kapisa province said she is a mother of five orphans and her husband served in the national army during the previous government, and claimed she has not received any assistance from the Taliban government.

Due to the sensitivity of the issue, he did not want to be named in the report. He said: “Ivorm gave me a certain amount of money, 15,000 yuan once and 20,000 yuan once during the Republic of China period, and several other times.” It was to aid those who died in the war. My father told me that the government gave it for the children.

While there are no exact statistics on the number of disabled people, orphans and widows in Afghanistan, the war in recent decades has increased their numbers.

The Taliban was also one of the warring groups that fought against the Afghan Army before it returned to power in Afghanistan and has been accused of war crimes, causing a large number of deaths, injuries, and even death and orphans.

The Taliban have even been accused of killing former government soldiers and officials since returning to power in Afghanistan.

The Taliban government has not accepted any of the charges.
