As the curtain falls on the 2024 Olympics, the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) is looking ahead to the next two Olympic cycles (2028 and 2032), with its president, Godfrey Monroe, yesterday calling on stakeholders in Guyana’s sporting community to “reset”.
Monro’s idea is to start over, and to this end, he revealed that the Arab League is embarking on a number of new initiatives to promote the development of sports in the country.
The experienced sports administrator was speaking at a GOA press conference, billed as a debriefing event held at the Olympic House in Liliendal. With the curtains having fallen on Guyana’s participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics in France, Munro noted that the advent of a new Olympic cycle provides “a critical opportunity for all key stakeholders to realign”.
