Her Majesty the Queen Mother who saw the beauty as well as the artistic value of the silk patterns when the Thai people dressed up to greet His Majesty the King during His Majesty’s visit to Kham Muang district in 1977, Her Majesty the Queen’s Special Arts and Handicraft Center project will be supported and promoted. “Currently, there are 3,890 groups of OTOP product operators in Kalasin province, with 5,118 products. In 2023, the total sales of OTOP products will be 6,950,353,390 baht, of which 43%, or 3,340,000,960 baht, will come from silk sales,” said Mr Uthai.

The Kalasin Provincial Development Agency also said that the “Wichit Praewa Silk Queen” event is scheduled to be held from August 19 to 23, 2024, and the highlight of the event is the collection of Praewa silk. The best silk from 20 provinces in the northeast region and the best products of the same kind in Kalasin province will come to the exhibition to display and sell, marking Kalasin as the best Praewa silk weaving place in the world. In addition, there will be activities and silk weaving exhibitions selling community products at 100 stalls. Natural dyeing exhibitions, artists’ exhibitions, lectures and demonstrations to understand the silk weaving process.
