Health adviser Noorjahan Begum said that discrimination has existed in every sector of the country for the past 16 years. It is impossible to eliminate so much discrimination in 16 days. I say to the people, support the interim government so that we can fight discrimination and corruption at all levels, including in the health sector.

These words were said during a discussion between a representative of Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (BAPI) and the consultants at the conference room of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday afternoon (August 20).

Nurjahan Begum said that the Ministry of Health is coordinating with students to properly treat students injured in the anti-discrimination movement. We will ensure that all the injured, including those who need to be sent abroad for better treatment, are properly treated.

He said the government would be responsible for treating the injured students and the victims.

Earlier, the meeting began with a minute’s silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the anti-discrimination movement. The meeting was attended by BAPI chairman Abdul Muktadir, secretary general SM Shafiuzzaman, representatives of various pharmaceutical industry organizations, officials from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Health, and the coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement.
