“We are impatiently waiting for the first training session tonight and the match against Velez in Pekkala on Sunday,” said Ciro Cobrjezan coach Tony Karacic in a press conference.

In October 2023, Šiloch Brijeg played its last match in Pekkala, when the pitch’s turf was replaced, and then played its home games in Sitruk.

Brijeg Silok started the new season with two away games. The Blue and Whites beat Zeljeznica 1-0 in Sarajevo and drew 1-1 with Radnik in Bijeljina.

“We have to be satisfied with the scoring performances in the first two games. On Sunday, we called on all fans to come and support us and it was a good call. This match can and must be much better because at the moment it is weaker than the others. “But I believe this team has the quality and experience to take the match to a higher level,” Karasić pointed out.

After losing to Zeljeznica in the last round, Velez decided to change coaches, a move that Karasic believes also made it difficult for him to prepare for Sunday’s match.

“They have changed coaches and now the previous assistant will be in charge. It will definitely make the preparations for this game more difficult, but we have to focus on ourselves and do our best to win in front of our fans,” he added.

Ilya Bagaric and Tomislav Tomic noted that the football players are looking forward to returning to their home stadium.

“While our players miss Pecará, our fans certainly miss celebrating together in our stadium. We are looking forward to this game, the team is ready and there is a good atmosphere among us. Velez is always an unpleasant opponent, but we will do our best and I hope we can continue with the positive results in the new season,” stressed Bagaric.

“It’s important for us to come back to Pekkala because it’s inconvenient for all our opponents to play in this stadium. Pekkala is a football temple for all of us players and for our fans as well. It means a lot. Velez did it. The season started badly and they changed coaches, but we have to look at ourselves and we have to stand firm in front of the fans,” Tomic pointed out.

NK Široki Brijeg vs FK Velez match will start at 18:45 on Sunday.
