Some citizens no longer believe in its usefulness. To be clear, politics is necessary and exists to solve people’s specific problems, many of which can only be solved by changing the environment in which we do things. Politics must be in constant dialogue with citizens.

In a study conducted in Seleções Reader’s DigestFor the first time, bankers matched politicians at the bottom of the ranking, with confidence at just 7%. The study also showed that most people did not trust judges.

Portuguese society is already feeling the signs and if politicians examine their consciences and draw the necessary lessons from their actions, perhaps the situation will improve.

One of the scars (flaws, impurities) of our democracy is the temptation to use power networks to generate loyal customers by exchanging votes.

It is always someone else’s fault. The actions and attitudes of the political class have led to a divide between citizens and politicians. The best way to instill trust and respect is to live up to the maxim that the power of our example must be matched by the power of our example; public institutions must serve the people, not private and partisan interests and objectives.

Some people have lost faith in politicians and the country. They are tired of white smiles, dark facts, vague interests, demagoguery, scolding and insults. Endless nonsense, empty rhetoric, and no action.

As it says Michele Maffesoli“Politics is the opposite of democracy; it is now rule by the minority, the aristocracy.” This saturation and rebellion against political parties and politicians, in addition to causing apathy, may lead to the collapse of the system.

Curiously, firefighters, a profession that most people do voluntarily and with few or no benefits, are the profession most recognized and trusted by the Portuguese. Unlike politicians, most of whom have permanent positions and receive many great benefits, they have neither the trust nor recognition of the Portuguese.
