On August 20, the Verkhovna Rada supported the bill “On the legal status of foreigners and stateless persons participating in the protection of the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine.” Irina Gerashchenko, a member of the European Solidarity Party, reported the news on her Telegram channel.
According to her, the document was passed with 315 votes.
According to the bill, foreigners and stateless persons defending Ukraine will be allowed to “obtain a temporary residence permit or immigrate even if their documents have expired.”
Their families will also be granted the right to temporary residence in Ukraine.
At the same time, the bill requires Belarusian and Russian citizens who obtain Ukrainian passports to “submit documents renouncing their foreign citizenship” within one year after the lifting of martial law.
