MP asks Seramei Masisi why he keeps travelling abroad in the face of economic downturn
Finance Minister Peggy Serame could not directly answer questions from Maun West MP Dumelang Saleshando on President Mokgweetsi Masisi’s frequent trips abroad.
At the start of last week’s parliamentary session, Selame updated parliament on progress regarding the economic recession that has spooked some, including top economists, with fears that Botswana could be in unprecedented economic trouble. She first read out a prepared statement and then took questions from MPs. In answering those questions, she happened to reveal that one of the measures the government will take to ease the current situation is a significant reduction in government-sponsored travel abroad. However, Salichando wanted her to deal with one particular traveller.
