The Tonga Intergenerational Youth Summit will host a dialogue with UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Monday, August 26. The event, which will be held in conjunction with the 53rd Pacific Islands Forum Leaders (PIFL) Meeting, will be held at Parliament House from 11:00am to 5:00pm.
The summit was hosted by the Legislative Assembly of Tonga, and invited youth representatives from the Pacific region to discuss with Guterres the theme of “Empowering Pacific Youth, Building a Better Present, and Creating a Transformative and Resilient Pacific Island Country.”
Discussions will focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Development Agenda, with a focus on key areas such as political leadership, resource development, climate change and technology.
The event aims to bring Pacific youth perspectives into global discussions, highlighting their important contribution to community development.
