Apple plans to release two new models of wireless earphones, which will be unveiled at the iPhone 16 launch event.
Bloomberg reported this.
According to institutional analyst Mark Gurman, the company will release the next-generation headphones AirPods 4 in September. The device will come in two versions – a budget version and a mid-range version. Gurman noted that Apple will replace two older headphone models released in 2019 and 2021, namely AirPods 2 and AirPods 3.
The article mentions that there will only be slight differences between the AirPods 4 versions. However, the more affordable model will not have active noise cancellation.
The cost of the new device has not been disclosed. Gurman recalled that Apple is currently selling the simplest AirPods 2 earphones for $90.
Mark Gurman also noted that the earphones will come with a case with a universal USB Type-C connector. Current models (except the AirPods Pro 2) all use a Lightning port.
In early August, Bloomberg insider Mark Gurman shared information about Apple’s plans to launch a children’s smartwatch. The device will have a plastic body and will be available in bright colors.
