August 19, 2017, is forever engraved in the memory of the People’s Progressive Movement (MPP) and the people of Burkina Faso as a date of great sadness. On that day, Salifou Diallo, one of the founding members of the PP and an emblematic figure of Burkina Faso’s socio-political life, completed his earthly journey. Seven years later, the pain of his death still stings and the party remembers with great emotion the memory of his fearless leader. On the occasion of the seventh anniversary, the PP calls on its activists, sympathizers and admirers of Salifou Diallo to honor him by sharing memories and testimonies on their communication platforms. The party also reiterates its commitment to the pursuit of the ideals that Comrade Diallo defended with such courage and self-sacrifice. Guided by the progressive social democratic ideology, Salifou Diallo made an invaluable contribution to the development of Burkina Faso, the PP said. His unwavering commitment to democracy, freedom and progress remains a legacy that the party strives to perpetuate despite the growing challenges facing the country.
PP message on seventh anniversary of death of President Salifo Diallo

Activists, activists and sympathizers of the Popular Movement for Progress (MPP), the people of Burkina Faso, August 19, 2017, the memory is still painful and unforgettable: our great comrade and President Salifo Diallo has indeed set, just as the sun has gone out in Burkina Faso. The night after having illuminated and warmed the entire planet!
Seven years have passed and the pain remains. Even today, the PP mourns the loss of a heroic fighter and one of its founding members. We will never stop saying that Comrade Salif Diallo, guided by progressive-minded social democrats, through bold initiatives and strong determination, made a great contribution to the development of our country, leaving an indelible mark in the socio-political life of our country.
Comrade Salifou Diallo is a symbol of our Party and our country, who fought with courage and self-sacrifice for his national and international influence. It would be pretentious to examine here in detail his achievements, because his commitments were uncalculated and made on multiple fronts.
We all agree that his departure left a great void in the Party, which, despite many shocks and storms, has worked hard, but with difficulty, to fill it, with the support of its comrades. Even today, the challenges remain, and each day is more severe and more urgent than the day before. The fighting spirit and courage of Salif Diallo ring in our minds like a heavy challenge. We must save our homeland threatened by the enemy, and he calls to us from the depths of his grave, or rather from his heavenly home: “Do not give up, because only the struggle can free you!” »
On this sad anniversary, the PP remembers and renews due tribute to the late President Dr. Salifo Diallo while pledging to immortalize his cause by pursuing the ideals of patriotism, freedom, democracy and progress that guided his actions.
The Party’s Political Bureau takes the opportunity to issue an appeal to the activists and supporters of the Party and all admirers of the brave fighter Salifo Diallo to pay tribute to him on this day, August 19, 2024, through the publication of his memoirs and testimonies about the man through Facebook pages, WhatsApp and other means of mass communication.
