SENS Movement statement on Magistrates’ request
Dear fellow Burkina Faso people,
The SENS Movement, true to its position of supporting the republican role of our country’s defense and security forces and the brave fighters on the front line against terrorism, would like to pay a warm tribute to all those actors who fight tirelessly every day to keep our homeland standing. We would like to once again express our sympathy and solidarity with the families of all the victims of terrorism in our country.
Dear compatriots,
It is now known that the Socialist Revolutionary Party in power, led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, far from upholding the mission it gave itself when it seized power by force, continues to trample on the rights and freedoms of its citizens, which should be defended and protected by an oath sworn before the Constitutional Council: “I swear before the people of Burkina Faso and on my honor to preserve, respect, implement and defend the Constitution, the Transition Charter and the laws, doing everything possible to ensure justice for all the inhabitants of Burkina Faso.”
Despite such beliefs and commitments, we see every day that the country is firmly on the path of lawlessness, intolerant of any different voice, even if it is constructive. Even within the framework of strict performance of functions, some citizens are worried.
In fact, since Monday, August 12, 2024, there have been reports that Magistrates have been requisitioned for deployment in the theater of operations for counter-terrorism. Unfortunately, a press release issued by the Magistrates Union on August 16, 2024, confirms what seemed impossible. If we adhere to the terms of this press release, seven (07) Magistrates will be concerned about these requisition orders issued by the National Police. Theater Operations Command (COTN).
Based on these requests, the Magistrates’ Union maintained that the decisions taken by these magistrates within the framework of their respective functions against citizens considered supporters of the current regime were justified.
We are informed that these expropriation orders were submitted to the Administrative Court, which ordered that “the Burkina Faso State should not execute these expropriation orders due to their illegal nature.” Despite these court decisions, the expropriation orders were executed.
Dear compatriots,
For the SENS movement, the defense of Burkina Faso is the duty of all Burkinabés. If necessary, all of us should abandon our daily activities to proudly defend our homeland. Unfortunately, what do we see? For the SRPS, bringing certain citizens to the forefront is a punishment for those who refuse to unify their thoughts or obey the instructions of the current monarch.
Therefore, we understand why to this day we are struggling to achieve decisive results against the enemy. On the one hand, we paradoxically send those who are called “stateless persons”, “local running dogs” of imperialism, “enemies” of the state to the front, while “patriots”, “sovereignists” find themselves far from the combat zones in air-conditioned offices and gleaming cars. On the other hand, Burkinabés, trained and experienced in the art of war, are deployed to do civil work in embassies abroad, while the less fortunate are arbitrarily arrested and imprisoned in PSR prisons.
Dear fellow Burkina Faso people,
By calling in the magistrates, the judicial deputies, the PRS regime has reached the bottom. If justice can no longer be done according to our written laws and in the name of the Burkinabe people, but according to the instructions and wishes of the prince of the time, then it is time to note the death of Burkinabe in no uncertain terms. The judicial forces did not hesitate to organize his funeral.
Dear compatriots,
The SENS Movement cannot remain indifferent and silent in the face of this numerous dictatorships. This governance trend, which fails to address the ills facing Burkina Faso, leads to a further deconstruction of our already fragile society, fuelling a vicious cycle of division, stigmatization, exclusion, authoritarianism and repression.
We cannot and must not get used to such repressive and authoritarian tendencies of the regime, which will not bring any constructive and lasting results in the short, medium and long term.
The SENS Movement expresses its solidarity with all the magistrates who have been called up to the front and their respective families. He encourages all actors in the judicial chain to remain republican, dignified, honest and resilient in the fulfillment of their noble mission. The SENS Movement also reiterates its support and solidarity with all citizens who have suffered from abduction, requisition, unjust imprisonment or arbitrary and unjust actions by the military forces of the Popular Socialist Revolutionary Party.
The SENS Movement concludes by calling on all the sons and daughters of Burkina Faso to unite in search of a sacred alliance to confront terrorism, save the achievements of the rule of law and preserve our integrity, dignity, solidarity and social justice that constitute the foundations of our common life and our social and national cohesion.
Meaning, serve rather than help yourself!
