A Romanian who has lived in Italy for many years was rushed to hospital with stab wounds after he defended a neighbour who was attacked by his half brother.

The Romanian was at home with his two daughters, aged 12 and 16, when he heard loud, desperate screams coming from the street. He looked out the window and saw his neighbour, a woman in her 30s, lying on the ground. Above, a man was beating her and shouting at her.

Military police later confirmed that the attacker, a 36-year-old man with a criminal record, was actually her half-brother.

Although the woman tried to defend herself, she didn’t stand a chance against her attackers who kept attacking her.

Faced with this scene, Costel decided to intervene immediately. He saved the woman, but the attacker’s rage now spread to the Romanians, who were insulted and beaten.

The radical man then appears to pull a knife from his pocket and stabs the Romanian several times in the arm and neck.

Afterwards, the desperate screams of the beaten woman also alarmed other neighbors. They realized the seriousness of the situation and immediately called 112.

The attacker was almost stopped by several people who stepped in to see what was happening.

“If I hadn’t stopped him, he would have killed her.”

An ambulance quickly arrived at the scene and Koster Nedelku was rushed to Pertini Hospital, where he required more than 20 stitches for his injuries.

Doctors predicted it would take him about 20 days to recover.

When asked about his gesture, the Romanian said he would repeat it at any time if necessary. “If I hadn’t intervened, I think this time he would have really killed her,” he added.

Apparently, this was not the first time the woman had been attacked by her half brother, who had been convicted several times for abusing other women.

People who knew him said the sister and her half brother often fought, mainly because of a lack of money, and the 36-year-old man was looking for an excuse to attack his sister.

According to rotalianul.com, the attacker was detained by the military police, then arrested and taken to Rebibia prison.
