At 10:10 p.m. Turkish time, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake occurred in the Kamchatka Peninsula in eastern Russia.

The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre also reported that the earthquake occurred about 29 kilometers below the surface.

The U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center has issued a tsunami warning for this earthquake.

After the earthquake, 15 aftershocks occurred.

Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry said there was no danger of a tsunami following the earthquake.

It is understood that the earthquake caused no casualties.

After the earthquake, the region’s Hivelucci volcano spewed ash up to 8 kilometers high.
