Representatives suggest reducing contributions to the Environment Bank Foundation from rents

Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) Representative Cynthia Córdoba introduced a bill to Strengthening financing for ecosystem protection State participation through the private sector.

The proposal, titled “Law on Supporting Environmental Protection through Tax Deductions for Donations to the Environmental Bank Foundation (Funbam),” adds a paragraph to Section 8 (q) of the Income Tax Law, Donations to the foundation will therefore be considered a deductible expense for the purposes of this tax, up to a maximum limit of 10%.

Funbam develops initiatives to protect important natural areas such as national parks, biological reserves and ecological corridors.

“It is clear that those who seek to conserve natural resources face many constraints in doing so; for example, Park rangers lack the resources to do their jobs Through this project, we not only finance environmental protection projects, but also encourage companies and individuals to contribute to important projects that protect our ecosystems. ” Córdoba explains.

The congresswoman explained that Funbam works with communities, businesses and organized groups. Therefore, donations to the foundation not only support environmental protection, but also promote job creation, education for children, young people and entrepreneurial women.

The deputy added: “Through this proposal, we will promote the creation of a foundation to promote sustainable development and support rural communities through workshops, lectures and environmental education activities.”
