MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Shelby County Commissioners) A Tribute to Dads will host a Father’s Day Awards Dinner on Sunday, June 16, 2024. This year’s dinner will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Memphis-University of Memphis (3700 Central Ave.)

The keynote speaker was Dr. Reginald S. Boyce, senior pastor of Riverside Baptist Church and director of community ministries for the City of Memphis.

“A Tribute to Dads” recognizes and rewards meritorious, responsible and dedicated fathers, grandfathers and father role models.

This year’s “Salute to Dad” dinner was sponsored by Shelby County Commissioner Mickell Lowery.

During the dinner, the “Salute to Fathers” Honorary Awards will be presented. The “Salute to Fathers” Honorary Award recipients include:

Dr. Reginald S. Boyce, Commissioner Charlie Caswell, Dr. Christopher Davis, Wayne Gillard, Officer Victor Lester Jr., Dr. Patrick Malone, Dr. Roderick Richmond, Courtney Strickland and Judicial Commissioner Zayid Saleem.

“Too often, truly amazing fathers in our society are overlooked,” said Myron Lowery, co-founder of Salute to Fatherhood. “We just want to honor and recognize some of them. Study after study shows that dedicated fathers have positive effects on their children and grandchildren.”
