It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time that there has been confusion between Palmeiras and Sao Paulo this season. In the Paulista League, the atmosphere also became heated after a 1-1 draw, when the Tricolore complained that there may have been a refereeing error that affected the result of the game.
See Palmeiras’ notes:
Due to the sad scenes that took place after the match, coupled with another disastrous refereeing, and in order to prevent the hostility that began on the field from spreading beyond the four lines, the management of Palmeiras decided that their coaches and players would not give interviews this Sunday. The club regrets that another important classic victory was overshadowed by topics that are not in line with the honesty and values of the sport.
