North Korea condemned Ukraine’s invasion of Russia, calling it an “inexcusable act of terrorism supported by Washington and the West,” adding that it would always support Russia, which Pyongyang says aims to protect its sovereignty.
“We strongly condemn the armed attack on Russian territory by the Ukrainian President Zelensky’s regime, which is controlled and supported by the United States and the West, and call it an unforgivable act of aggression and terror.” North Korea’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement carried by state news agency KCNA.
Last year, North Korea significantly strengthened its ties with Russia, with leaders of both countries pledging to deepen cooperation in various fields.
In June this year, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a “comprehensive strategic partnership” agreement, which also includes a mutual defense agreement.
South Korea, Ukraine and the United States accuse North Korea of supplying artillery and missiles to Russia, which Moscow then uses in its war against Ukraine.
