The public administration that organizes the competition said in comments sent to Ertey that “we received requests from five applicants to participate in the competition for the position of director of the State Language Inspectorate.”
According to her, the applicants are currently being evaluated for compliance with the established requirements. The director of the State Language Inspectorate is expected to be announced by the end of October.
The current head of the State Language Inspectorate, A. Valotka, who has been criticized several times by the Minister of Culture and offered to resign, has confirmed his participation in the Erte competition.
“Yeah, I am,” he said when asked if he was one of the contenders.
A. Valotka, who does not want to speculate on the outcome of the competition, will end his five-year term in January next year.
The first round of selection for the position was announced in early July. However, no applicants were received at that time, so a new competition was announced after clarifying the special educational requirements.
ELTA reminds that last October, A. Valotka, who became famous for his scandalous statements, received a letter of recommendation from the Ministry of Culture to terminate the employment relationship by mutual consent.
Subsequently, the head of the State Language Inspectorate received a note about the passenger’s statement that he “spoke Churkai”. However, Volotka himself testified that he did not speak “Churkas”, but “Turks”.
Not long ago, A. Valotka was criticized for his remarks on the LRT radio program. He then said that the Polish nameplates in the villages of the Vilnius region not only mark the historical territories occupied by the Poles, but also violate Lithuanian laws and should be removed. The head of the State Language Inspectorate equated these inscriptions with labels for the Russian-occupied Donbass territories.
