Today, Saturday, August 17, 2024, a joint meeting of political groups, coalitions and civil society organizations was held in Port Sudan, where participants reviewed the political, security and humanitarian situation and their positions on the Geneva Initiative and the Jeddah Platform. The Rapid Support Militia is escalating its brutal attacks and grave violations against innocent civilians, committing murder, looting, rape, destruction of property and dispersal of millions of people with military vehicles in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and human rights. In view of the suspicious silence of the international community.
In the face of all these unprecedented crimes and violations, the dire humanitarian situation and desperate attempts to interfere in the affairs of the Sudan and steal the will of the Sudanese people, the Sudanese people, their armed forces, other regular forces and the combined forces of the Sudan, the armed struggle and popular resistance movement presented a long line of martyrs whose pure blood came from all parts of the Sudan, forming an unparalleled national epic, confirming their firm belief in the unity of the Sudan and their firm refusal to interfere in its internal affairs.
First, the participants praised the struggle and sacrifice of the Sudanese people and their courageous and brave response to foreign plots targeting Sudan out of greed for its resources and strategic location. The participants also praised the patience of the displaced persons and refugees. The participants called for urgent medical treatment for the wounded and missing persons.
Participants condemned the crimes of the Rapid Support Militia and its flagrant violations of human rights, war crimes, ethnic cleansing, rape, arbitrary arrests and killings based on ethnicity and region, restrictions on citizens’ movements, blocking the mobility of young people. Participants condemned the countries that support it politically, media and logistically.
Participants also condemned the Rapid Support Militia’s siege of the city of El Fasher, blocking humanitarian aid and commercial convoys, targeting hospitals, medical personnel and aid workers, and deliberate bombing of residential areas, camps for displaced persons, and the heinous massacres committed by the Rapid Support Militia in Al Jazeera and Sennar villages, including the massacre in Galkani village in Sennar State, as part of an ongoing series of terrorist Rapid Support Militia massacres.
The participants confirmed the need to implement the outcomes of the Jeddah Declaration of 11 May 2023. They also condemned the replacement of the Jeddah rostrum with Geneva without objective reasons, which they considered a conspiracy against Sudan and an attempt to replicate the framework agreement that triggered the war in the country. The participants rejected the efforts of the Rapid Support Militia to politically revive it for any reason.
The participants praised the Sudanese government’s refusal to participate in the Geneva negotiations, expressing the will of the Sudanese people and their insistence on national sovereignty. The participants praised Sudan’s heroic stance at home and abroad, condemned foreign interference, deprived the country of its sovereignty, and opposed the Geneva platform.
Participants also praised the stance taken by some sisterly and friendly Arab countries in the face of the lack of humanitarian assistance from Western countries, which have provided only a small amount of humanitarian aid to the Sudanese people.
