Silvio Santos died this Saturday in Sao Paulo at the age of 93. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has decreed that all matches of this round of the Brazilian Championship will be observed with a minute of silence in memory of the host. The club also published posts throughout Saturday morning in memory of the SBT boss, through its investment in the broadcaster’s sports events.
CBF president Edinaldo Rodriguez said: “We will observe a minute’s silence at all Brazilian football matches this round in memory of the host. I also express my condolences to Silvio Santos’ family, friends and fans.”
Silvio Santos was born on December 12, 1930 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His original name was Senor Abravanel and he was an open supporter of the Brazilian Liberal Party. FluminenseHowever, in São Paulo, he chose 1 Corinthiansto “love” and invest as a sponsor. As fate would have it, the two clubs will face off this Saturday in the Brazilian Championship at the Maracana.
“I am deeply sorry to see Silvio Santos go. It was a tradition in our family to watch the Silvio Santos show every Sunday. I still watch the show today, which is now hosted by his daughter. Silvio Santos went down in the history of Brazilian television and was one of the greatest businessmen in our country,” added Ednaldo Rodrigues.
