The jersey worn by legendary New York Yankees baseball player Babe Ruth during his most famous streak will sell at auction this month for $30 million.

That would make it the most expensive jersey in history. The baseball legend wore the No. 3 jersey in the 1932 World Series against the Chicago Cubs.

Babe Ruth for the past 92 years has certainly been a role model for many players who have tried to emulate or imitate him.

“It’s incredible that we’re still talking about ‘The Called Shot’ nearly 100 years later,” Chris Ivy, director of Heritage Sports Auctions, told CNN.

The auction, which will be held Aug. 23-25, will include other historic sports memorabilia, including Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls “Last Dance” jersey and a game-used stick signed by baseball great Jackie Robinson.

The starting bid for Ruth’s “Called Shot” jersey has surpassed $14 million, with just one week left in the auction.

In 2019, a 1928-1930 Babe Ruth jersey sold at auction for $5.64 million, becoming one of the most expensive sports memorabilia ever sold at the time. The jersey broke the previous record of $4.4 billion for another Ruth jersey.

Meanwhile, the auctioneer is optimistic about the jersey’s staggering value.

“Given its history and mythology, we expect that when the final bid comes in, it will hold the record for the most expensive sports collectible ever sold at auction,” Complete Sports Auction Director./tvklan.al
