Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has detected three cases of monkeypox virus (MPOX), the province’s health department said on Monday.

The agency said the patient from the UAE was found to be infected with the virus upon arrival.

Recently, the World Health Organization declared the monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency of international concern after identifying this new virus.

Cases of monkeypox (MPOx) have been reported in Pakistan, but it is not yet clear which type of virus has been detected in the patients.

Monkeypox (mpox) is an infectious disease that is spread through close contact, such as sex, skin-to-skin contact, talking or breathing in close proximity to a person or other people.

The disease causes flu-like symptoms and skin pox and can be fatal, killing about 4 in 100 cases. Monkeypox outbreaks can be controlled with vaccination.
