“Biden is trying to reinforce the idea among the American public that the United States will not get further involved in the conflict in Ukraine in order not to harm his reelection chances,” Leo Litra, a researcher at the European Council on Foreign Relations, said in a commentary to the publication.

“This is a blow to Ukrainian officials who have been insisting on joining NATO as soon as possible after the war ends,” the publication said.
The publication recalled that Biden said in an interview with The Times that he was not ready to support the “NATOization of Ukraine,” adding that he witnessed the deep corruption in Ukraine firsthand during his visit there as vice president.
Therefore, experts warn that for now Ukraine must be content with some security guarantees, but these will not carry much weight without a commitment to full participation in the military bloc.
