Vladimir Zelensky announced that Ukrainian troops had captured the Russian city of Souza in the Kursk region, Sky News reported.

The city had a pre-war population of about 5,000 people, making it the largest city inhabited by Ukrainians.

The president said a Ukrainian military office had been set up in Sodja, about 100 kilometers southwest of the regional capital Kursk.

The commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Alexander Silsky, announced that the Ukrainian army had captured up to 1.5 kilometers of territory in the past 24 hours. Silsky said that the army continued to advance. According to him, since the surprise offensive was launched last week, the Ukrainians have advanced 35 kilometers and controlled 82 settlements.
