Harris and her advisers did not accept the offer to meet or show any interest in the proposal, which Kennedy called a “strategic mistake.”

He told The Washington Postt: “I think they should take every opportunity they get. I think it’s going to be a close race.”

Kennedy also tried to reach Biden through former White House chief of staff and longtime adviser Ron Klain, the newspaper reported.

Kennedy made a similar offer to Donald Trump last month at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

Kennedy also recorded a phone call between him and the Republican nominee in which Trump said: “I want you to do something – I think it would be very good for you and very big for you.”

The Kennedy campaign claims that polls show that Harris or Trump’s approval ratings would be boosted if Kennedy announced that Harris or Trump could serve in a Cabinet position in their administration.

Although Kennedy reached out to both major parties, he told The Washington Post He plans to continue his campaign for the White House.

However, his advisers said he was willing to quit if he found another way to bring about the changes he sought.

Kennedy’s campaign spokeswoman Stephanie Speier told CNN that Kennedy is “willing to meet with leaders of both parties to discuss the possibility of forming a coalition government.”

Democrats view Kennedy as a “spoiler” candidate who could hand victory to Trump, and have highlighted his support from Trump-supporting Republican megadonor Timothy Mellon to make that case.

“No one is going to negotiate with a fringe candidate who is receiving ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA) funding and wants to work with Donald Trump in exchange for endorsements,” said Matt Corridoni, a spokesman for the Democratic National Committee.
