Moscow and Minsk adopted a federal law amending the agreement between Russia and Belarus. It concerns the procedure for mutual enforcement of court decisions in alimony cases. Write Russian Newspaper.
The publication said the document would close the “window” for persistent defaulters in the country to flee the country and not pay alimony.
Experts explain that the decision to pay alimony is made by the court in the place where the recipient lives. In order to enforce the court’s decision, the bailiff is obliged to find and bring back the offender, no matter where he moved to.
At the same time, court decisions have no legal effect outside the Russian Federation. All agreements on the pursuit of criminals concern only individuals who have committed serious crimes.
Previously, alimony workers were not included in the list of persons covered by interstate agreements on the search and extradition of criminals. The new law expands the list to include such citizens.
According to the reporter, under the new law, Russian bailiffs will enforce the decisions of courts in neighboring countries, while in Belarus, the decisions of Russian courts have become an obligation that bailiffs must enforce.
