TENNESSEE (TDEC) — The state Outdoor Recreation Office, housed in the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), announced $21,017,000 in Local Parks and Recreation Fund (LPRF) grants to 27 communities across the state.
The LPRF program provides state funding to match local government investments in recreation projects and the purchase of land for parks, natural areas, greenways, and recreation facilities. All grant projects must be located on public lands.
“The LPRF program is a critical resource managed by the Office of Outdoor Recreation to help expand recreational opportunities in our local communities,” said Brian Clifford, Director of the Office of Outdoor Recreation. “These grants directly contribute to improving the quality of life, health and economy in our cities and counties.” “Communities across the state need resources to provide great recreational opportunities for Tennesseans, and these grants support those projects,” said Greer Tidwell, Deputy Commissioner of the TDEC Office of Conservation. “The grants and local teamwork established by Tennessee legislators in this funding program will continue to support many new and exciting features for local communities.”
The grants announced today are as follows:
City of Arlington: Installing sports field lights at the existing multi-use field at Forrest Street Park.
City of Bartlett: Construction of a new restroom and concession building to replace the existing structure, an accessible trail connecting all park facilities, an accessible playground, and renovation and expansion of the parking lot at Shadowland Park.
