On Wednesday evening, on the first day of the unprecedented international tournament organized by the International Tennis Federation, local athletes Harrison Amaral and Gabriel Barta finished second in the BT 10 event, held at the Arena Bora Beach in Rio Brihante (MS) in Mato Grosso do Sul.

Amaral and Gabriel Balta won three matches this Wednesday, only losing by detail decision to the athletes from Mato Grosso, Daniel Roma and Joao Godoy, 6/4 4/6 10/6. The women’s championship was won by the athletes from Paraná, Mato Grosso, Sofia Federer and Ana Beatriz Guarita, who defeated Larissa Andrade and Jana Patricia, 6/2 6/1. Each pair will receive 10 points in the world ranking.

This Thursday, the main BT 100 tournament with a total prize of $10,000 (R$54,000) will begin with the qualifying rounds. Starting at 2:30 pm local time (3:30 pm Brasilia time), 11 matches will rock the arena to determine the last 8 places in the main draw, which will start on Friday the 16th and last until Sunday the 18th.

Each winning pair will receive more than 100 points in the world ranking.

The tournament is sanctioned by the Mato Grosso do Sul Tennis Federation, the Brazilian Tennis Federation and the International Tennis Federation. The event is hosted by NIU.
