European Super Cup: Real Madrid wins first title of the season

Around 60,000 spectators in Warsaw watched the match between Real Madrid and Atalanta Bergamo, which had few chances in the first 45 minutes.

After the Italians got the first great chance in the second half, the Spaniards’ attack became more stable, scoring two goals in nine minutes. This was the decisive factor in the game, and Mbappe immediately scored his first goal for his new club. This is the sixth time Real Madrid has won the Super Cup.

The second half started at a fast pace. First, Mbappe’s shot went wide. On the other hand, Courtois blocked Pasalic’s header with a beautiful parry and corner kick. Both teams’ attacks were more stable. In the 59th minute, Real Madrid finally rewarded themselves. Vinicius Jr. took the upper hand from the left and passed to Valverde in the middle. He only had to push the ball into the empty goal.

Atalanta was now dominated by Rulo, with Musso preventing the second goal with two saves against Vinicius and Bellingham. In the 66th minute, Bellingham stuck to Musso again. Two minutes later, the Englishman found Mbappe in the penalty area, 2:0. Although Atalanta still tried to push forward and had one or two smaller chances, in the end Real Madrid won 2:0 and deservedly. Therefore, the first title of the season belongs to the current Champions League champions. Atalanta held on for a long time, but could not match the success of the Europa League.
