Former NHL player Ryan Getzlaf will join the league’s player safety department.
NHL vice president of player safety George Parros made the announcement in a statement Wednesday.
Getzlaf is an option Anaheim Ducks (No. 19 overall) During the 2003 draft, he has worn a Ducks uniform his entire career and has etched his name in the club’s great records. He leads the Ducks in seasons played (17), games played (1,157), assists (737) and points (1,019).
In 2007, he helped the Ducks win the Stanley Cup and served as the team captain for 12 years, creating another peak in the team’s history.
He retired after the 2021-22 season.
Since June 2023, Getzlaf has served as the Ducks’ player development coordinator.
