One of the biggest handball stars of the past fifteen years, Jovanka Radičević, has announced her retirement from handball at the end of the upcoming season.

After the 2024/25 season, there will be no such dilemma. RK Krim Mercator will lose one of its biggest stars, and Jovanka Radičević will end her rich sporting career at the highest level after more than two decades.

She will finish her career wearing the Krem Mercator jersey, for which she has played for the past two seasons.

Radicevic, considered one of the best handball players of all time, will bid farewell to the all-time leading scorer in the Champions League.

During her long and successful career she has set many records and achieved extraordinary achievements which have placed her at the top of world handball.

This will also be her 21st consecutive season competing in Europe’s elite events, the most consecutive seasons of any player.

With her brilliant shooting stroke and unstoppable energy, she inspired her teammates and fans and became a true handball icon.

Announcing the end of his career, Radicevic said:

“I always make every decision carefully. In life and in sport, I have always followed my instincts and the decisions so far have been the right ones. You have to know when to step back. So when you are at the top, people remember you. I think I gave everything to handball. I am very proud of everything I have achieved so far and this decision came from the heart,” Radicevic told the Crimean leader.

Radicevic arrives at Krim Merkator ahead of the start of the 2022/2023 season. Her wish is to end her career by qualifying for the EHF Champions League final in Budapest next year.

“My wish is to reach the semi-finals and I am sure it will come true. I am sure I will say goodbye as I did to the national team. I know we have a good team and I will give my all until the last minute so that we can dance together in Budapest”, concluded Radicevic.

“Jovanka Radicevic will leave an indelible mark after her playing career ends, both in the handball world and at Klim Mercator, who are extremely proud of her rich career. Her legacy will live on long among fans and teammates alike,” they wrote on the Klim Mercator website.
