Minister of Mining, Oil and Gas Admir Šahmanović said that according to the dynamics of the plan, we will form the final oil reserves of 100,000 tons in about 4-5 years, relative to the current market prices.
Sachmanovich stressed that the dynamics of oil reserve formation will largely depend on fuel prices in the coming period.
He noted that the current government is facing an important task, which is a great opportunity to finally integrate Montenegro into the European Union.
“For my part and that of the ministry I manage, we will focus on fulfilling our obligations beyond the European integration process. We will focus on completing the story of oil reserve formation, and then on the regulatory framework, the adoption of the law on security of supply of oil derivatives and the updating of the action plan on reserve formation,” Shamanovich noted.
Asked when the process of forming oil reserves will begin, Sachmanovich noted that the law has been sent to parliament for adoption under emergency procedure.
“After that, we will update the action plan, and then we will continue to form oil reserves by imposing a special tax of about 3 cents per liter of fuel,” Sachmanovich explained.
Sachmanovich said that in case of some external turmoil in the international, regional or internal markets, the oil reserves will provide a certain protection, in which case citizens and the economy will be able to operate unhindered for about three months.
