ST. KITTS AND NEVIS (WINN) – The 132-page Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) case filed in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida against St. Kitts and Nevis and St. Lucia Citizenship by Investment (CBI) government officials, stakeholders and developers has been gaining attention since news broke.
All parties in the lawsuit have publicly denied the allegations and expressed their views through press conferences or press releases. They have categorically refuted the lawsuit as “baseless” and “malicious” and have refuted the allegations.
However, Phillipe Martinez of MSR Media continues to make public appearances and speak out.
On June 6, 2024, Martinez was interviewed by Lissa Joseph of DBS TV about the company’s lawsuit in the United States under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO).
During the interview, Martinez criticized by name the former prime minister and leader of the Popular Workers’ Party for publicly stating that he had nothing to hide.
“As you know, because I said before, we obtained a court order and subpoenaed all the banks involved, five of them. We received two transactions. Right now, Dr. Harris and Galaxy are in the U.S. courts trying to block us (from accessing) the other three banks. So Dr. Harris said before the press conference, I have nothing to hide. I am innocent. I have nothing to hide. Well, Dr. Harris, if you have nothing to hide, why are you speaking out? Why did you instruct Galaxy and your lawyers to block us (from accessing) the bank accounts of the remaining three banks? We obtained these people’s dollar transactions because of the defamation lawsuit.”
He also said Dr Harris and property developer Caribbean Galaxy were in a dangerous situation.
“It was the best thing they did for me because after they did it, my American lawyers were experts; they were top lawyers. They said how could they make such a strategic mistake. So we filed what’s called a 1782 filing in the United States, and we were able to get bank transaction records. Can you imagine? We had every single bank transaction record. Do you know how scared they are now?”
The defendants named in the lawsuit include former head of the St. Kitts and Nevis Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) and current CEO of Caribbean Galaxy, Les Kahn, current CEO of the St. Lucia CIU, McClaude Emmanuel, Caribbean Galaxy’s Kim Eng, former St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister and current Foreign Minister Denzil Douglas, former St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Timothy Harris, St. Kitts and Nevis real estate developer Faron Lawrence, and Caribbean Galaxy itself. Recently, the scope of the lawsuit was amended to include St. Lucia’s Minister of Investment, Dr. Ernest Hillaire, as a co-defendant, among others.
