Speaking at an undisclosed intelligence base in the north, Galant revealed that the operation to eliminate Shukr was coordinated from there. “People here work very seriously to prepare for any possible scenario,” Galant said, stressing that Israel is focused on eliminating threats and is ready to strike “anywhere.”
Galant reiterated Israel’s determination to ensure the safe return of residents to their homes after forcing Hezbollah to retreat north of the Litani River. Acknowledging the tense situation facing Israeli citizens, he said: “Thanks to the people here and across the country (on land, sea and air), Israelis can maintain their daily lives, but must remain vigilant, alert and ready to follow the instructions of the Homeland Defense Command.”
The defense minister’s office noted that Galant received a detailed briefing on the intelligence operation that led to the assassination of Shukur, who was considered the right-hand man of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and the group’s most senior officer.
Galant also reviewed the ongoing strikes against Hezbollah elements across Lebanon. Earlier in the day, reports from Lebanon indicated that two more Hezbollah members were killed in an airstrike in southern Lebanon.
Galante then met with Northern Command Commander Maj. Gen. Ori Golding to discuss strengthening the combat readiness of the various commands.
