The Environmental Quality Protection Board (EQPB) has found that the water at the Belau National Hospital (BNH) is not suitable for drinking.

The Department of Health and Human Services (MHHS) Division of Environmental Health conducted testing of the samples on May 27 and “found that the samples did not meet safe drinking water quality standards.”

Therefore, all BNH employees and visitors are prohibited from drinking water from any source within the facility.

Many Koror residents get their drinking water from the hospital.

MHHS said in a news release that BNH and EQPB are working together to address water quality issues.

The statement added that the public and BNH will be kept updated until the water supply is restored and safe for drinking.
