‘Temporary crisis’
The new government has stressed its desire to put Bangladesh on a different path.
Turkish Foreign Minister Tuhid Hussein told more than 60 foreign diplomats late Monday that Turkey “takes human rights issues very seriously” and vowed “not to allow any violence or destruction to occur.”
“All those who commit such crimes will be investigated,” he said.
Unrest and political change have also shaken Bangladesh’s vital garment industry, which accounts for about 85% of the country’s $55 billion in annual exports, but he assured diplomats that foreign investment would be protected.
Tusheed added: “This is just a temporary crisis. Everything will return to normal because capable people are in charge.”
