When couple Camilla Kvartoft and Leif GW Persson reunited at SVT, it would be six years since they produced the hit show Crime of the Week, which aired between 2010 and 2018.

Viewers will recognize segments like Unsolved Crimes and “Ask Leif,” but what’s new about “This Week” is that each episode has a specific theme.

– This will touch upon gang crime and the work of the police in combating it, but also criminal policy. We will also discuss topics such as drugs, prostitution, welfare crime and financial crime, says Camilla Kvatoft.

The first episode airs on Wednesday. They will then take the pulse of the Swedish police following a major reorganization in 2015.

– The idea was that police would become more visible in the field, closer to citizens and solve more crimes. We are now seeing more police funding, more officers, but fewer crimes solved.

In the studio they will be visited by National Police Commissioner Petra Lundh and give her thoughts on police work.

Before the premiere, Kwatoft said it felt “fun, but a little nervous.”

– It feels like we have high expectations to meet, but it will be fun to get started.
