Novi Sad – Food in stores can go bad, but it is never pleasant to see this happen. On the “192.rs” Instagram profile, a video forwarded by a user of the social network appeared showing cured ham from Njeguš affected by mold, which, as the author of the video further claims, is sold in Lidl.

Customers from Novi Sad took photos of package after package of the product and claimed that each one was moldy, so they shared their disappointment on social networks.

While some in the comments pointed out that this could happen to anyone, others pointed out that this is unacceptable. After the video was released, the Telegraf team contacted Lidl, and since the people of Novi Sad claimed that all of the above exposed ham slices were affected by mold, one of the key questions was whether the entire series was in dispute, or if this was an isolated case.

“After learning about the situation, we immediately initiated all the necessary verification procedures. The quality control department of our company ordered a detailed analysis of the above-mentioned products in the chain. It was determined that the above-mentioned cases were isolated and that the entire series was fine and posed no risk to consumers, so it was concluded that there were no signs of any changes and no deviation from the quality of other products – these products are safe to eat,” they said at the front of the company.

They further answered the possible reasons for the defective products.

“The situation of poor vacuum packaging of ham is most likely due to damage to the packaging. The reason may be due to reasons during the transportation of the goods or accidental damage by the consumer during the purchase process. Ham, as a sensitive product, can easily deteriorate if the packaging is damaged, which may lead to changes in the product. Of course, all our employees do their best every day to avoid this from happening,” they added.

Lidl urges all consumers who come across such packaging in store to report it to the seller on site, or if they have already taken it home, to return it to the nearest Lidl store. Their packaging will be replaced free of charge, according to the report.telegraph“.
