Flying from Punta Cana to Miami, I saw a very nice family. A relatively young man, his wife and three children. Beautiful, very calm and polite. As they came next to us, I began to notice things I liked, like the way the little sister asked to hold the child. The child was still young and she held it very well, like it was a doll.
But what caught my attention? The man’s devotion to his two sons in front. As the plane was about to take off, the mother took the little girl from the woman’s hands and took her to bed. I want to breastfeed. Then, the father dedicated himself to the two in front.
The girl was drawing on her tablet but she put it aside and she talked to her brother and they got along well.
I mean, it looks like a very normal family. The man takes care of the older child with all his heart so that his wife can take care of the younger baby. I don’t think it has been there for more than a month or two. The man helps her get food, and when the girl doesn’t understand or the tablet gets stuck, he tries to give her the food.
That man dedicated the entire flight to caring for his child, and it made me reflect: “Nancy, your work is not in vain. “Man is realizing that he, too, must participate in raising his child. ”
And so it is. The man has learned that he must share the tasks with his wife. It is true that it is a slow change, at a great cost. But there is a change. It is not bad or strange to take care of the children. At other times, the woman turns into an octopus and takes care of all the children, while the man sleeps or reads the newspaper. Be careful, it happens all the time.
But now there are men who are considerate of women. It’s great to see families like this and know that change is possible. I hope women can understand this, too. And let’s not criticize men all day long, but admit that it’s not easy.
It’s not easy to play roles they’ve never played because we don’t let them play them. It’s rare to see a man changing a diaper, holding a baby, or feeding a child, especially in public. That must be the future.
