This method may seem like a trick, but there’s serious science behind it: Any liquid will be ice cold in just minutes, and you don’t even need a refrigerator.
Summer is still in full swing, and a new heat wave is coming. It looks like this year’s hot summer may not end until October. So it’s better to drink some cold drinks for a few days.
But what if we forget to refrigerate the bottle, or our fridge breaks down? Alcoholic or non-alcoholic beveragesif it’s in a bottle, you can easily cool it down to working temperature in just a few minutes with this simple trick.
At least that’s what an Instagram page called “Cocktails” shows in a video, where they chill a bottle of wine with some ice and salt. (Even if we don’t have a fridge, the magic won’t work without ice in the summer.)
According to the explanation, ice cubes are placed in a bucket, the bottle is placed in it, and then it is sprinkled around. Another dose of ice will come, and then salt is added again. It is said that it only takes a short time, 5 minutes at most, for the drink to be cold.
But now let’s look at the science behind the method: Adding salt to ice water lowers the freezing point of the water, so the ice melts at a lower temperature and the water cools faster. This process cools drinks down a third faster than a traditional ice bath.
