New air alert issued across Ukraine

Air sirens were activated across the Ukrainian capital and across the country on Tuesday morning. It was the second day this week that air sirens were activated across Ukraine, following a series of attacks on critical and energy infrastructure in various regions of the country on Monday.

According to Krivoy Rog Oblast authorities, Russian missiles hit a power plant near Svetlovodsk and a hydroelectric power plant in the city of Novodestrovsk was also hit.

In addition, an attack was recorded on a substation near the Dnieper hydroelectric power station dam in the Zaporizhia region of Russia, which is currently under the control of Ukrainian troops. Similarly, the Kremenchug hydroelectric power station in the Kirovograd region was also affected, causing power outages and water shortages in the region.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal said 18 facilities, mostly electricity, were damaged in 10 regions, adding that hundreds of settlements in seven provinces were without electricity.

Russia sends 87,000 troops to southeastern Ukraine

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced on Tuesday that 87,000 of the 300,000 servicemen recruited as part of the partial mobilization have been sent to their destination regions in southeastern Ukraine.

The Defense Minister said that about 3,000 instructors who have gained combat experience in hostilities around Ukraine are responsible for training these mobilized soldiers, according to Russia 24 Channel.

The Minister noted that during the preparations, the main efforts were focused on field training and the ability to use communications, navigation and reconnaissance equipment.

Likewise, the minister noted that combat vehicle and tank crews, artillery, snipers, drone experts, electronic warfare personnel, etc. are being trained at the training center.

Shoigu once again drew the attention of the commanders of military districts across the country and the Northern Fleet to the need to use forces formed jointly with forces already participating in special military operations.

Shoigu concluded by saying that the leaders assured that all measures would be taken to avoid the death of Ukrainian citizens.

Russian airport flight restrictions extended

Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) reports that the flight restriction regime is being extended at 11 airports in southern and central Russia.

A statement on the Russian Transport Ministry’s website on Tuesday added that the restrictions will be extended until November 9 next year.

Flights to Anapa, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Gelendzhik, Krasnodar, Kursk, Lipetsk, Rostov-on-Don, Simferopol and Elista airports are temporarily restricted.

In view of Russia’s special military operations against Ukraine, Russia has closed part of its southern and central airspace to civil aircraft since February 24, 2022.
