Nevis Mango Festival launches 10th anniversary schedule

NIA Charleston Nevis (June 7, 2024)The Nevis Tourism Authority (NTA) has released a schedule of exciting events for the 10th anniversary of the Nevis Mango Festival, which will take place from July 4 to 7, 2024.

The theme of this year’s event is “Everything about Mango”.

Nevis Tourism Authority (NTA) Director of Sales and Marketing, Mr Pheon Jones, announced that the official launch will take place at the Nevis Botanical Gardens, Brownhill on Thursday, July 4, with a masterclass by celebrity chef Shorne Benjamin.

“12 to 15 lucky customers will have the opportunity to cook a mango-flavored dish with him, and the event will start at 4:00 p.m.

“We invite the public to come and watch the masterclass. Of course, there will be music, food, drinks and a celebratory dinner.”

Friday, July 5, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm, is the Indian Castle Fruit Orchid Open Day, with activities including a mango eating contest, mango munching and barbecue, a children’s mango hunt, a mango pit challenge, Culturama 50 Parade Costume Showbartending/mixologist competitions, and more.

Additionally, there will be a Pinney’s Beach Bar Crawl on July 5 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.

On Saturday, July 6, people are invited to join the “Taste Nevis Passport Restaurant Tour” from noon to 6:00 p.m., where participants will visit various “mom and pop” restaurants on the island. In addition, the Four Seasons Resort will host the Mango Festival Dinner Club from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.

The 10th anniversary of the Nevis Mango Festival will culminate with a grand “Mango Love” event at Malcolm Guishard Recreation Park at 1:00 pm on Sunday, July 7.

Mr Jones highlighted a number of improvements designed to provide patrons with a more enjoyable experience than last year’s highly successful event.

“We listened to all the feedback and decided to use the entire MGR Park. We have increased the number of chefs from 30 to 50 and these chefs will prepare samples of various mango flavours. We have invited chefs from Antigua, Trinidad and Nevis to defend their crowns. Also, we will have a kids’ area, face painting and a mango health corner,” he said.

He revealed a new feature of the Mango Love event – ​​a wrap-up concert, which will add to the entertainment line-up at the event.

Tickets start at EC$50 and can be purchased online www.nevismangofest.comAs tickets for this event are limited, the public is encouraged to purchase tickets early. There will be ten entrances to the event, with a VIP area with its own entrance to avoid long lines and wait times.
