U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West said efforts are underway to free three American citizens from Taliban custody in Afghanistan and return them to their families.
Mr West wrote on X Network (formerly Twitter) today (Sunday 21), Assad, they continue to work to return Ryan Corbett, Mahmoud Shah Habibi and George Glazman to their homes and families.
Earlier, Roger Carstens, the US President’s Special Representative for Hostage Affairs, posted on X.net that they will continue to work hard to reunite these American citizens with their families.
Ryan Corbett and Mahmoud Shah Habibie were captured in Afghanistan two years ago, Carstens wrote.
He added that Corbett, Habibie and Golzman had been detained for a long time and their families had suffered unimaginable pain.
Mahmoud Shah Habibi, an Afghan-American who served as the head of the Afghan government’s civil aviation department, was arrested by the Taliban in Kabul in August 2014.
Habibie’s family said Mr. Habibie had been arrested and imprisoned without any criminal conduct.
