Nutley welcomes Hudson Rose; more food news

The former two-story Franklin Steakhouse is now the Hudson Rose, a New York-inspired restaurant serving upscale American cuisine and drinks. Chopping Award-winning chef and pastry chef Raechel Lebron. The daily dinner menu includes dishes such as caviar hot dogs, double-cooked duck, filet mignon and a raw bar. There are signature cocktails, draft and bottled beers and an extensive wine list. The second floor of the building, known as the Harlow Room, will be used for events. Lunch and brunch will be offered in the coming weeks.

There’s a new coffee shop in Hoboken. Cafe Cartel is a Colombian coffee shop that imports its coffee from the city of Medellín. The cafe plays on the cartel crime theme, calling itself “the local caffeine distributor” and “the silent partner in caffeine crime” in several Instagram posts. Additionally, the theme of the shop is black and red, and its logo is a skull wearing a black cowboy hat and a red bandana mask. In addition to pastries and pies, the cafe serves a variety of hot and iced coffee drinks daily.
1100 Adams Street

The ice cream chain has gained popularity nationwide as stores continue to pop up across the country, with pints available at various grocery stores, as well as online ordering and nationwide delivery. Van Leeuwen’s second New Jersey location opened this week, three years after its first store opened at American Dream in East Rutherford. The shop serves fresh, hand-scooped ice cream in its signature dairy and vegan flavors like Earl Grey, Marionberry Cheesecake and Peanut Butter Brownie Honeycomb, as well as pre-packaged pints, sandwiches and lollipops.
347 Grove Street

Snacks and charcuterie boards remain a cult favorite among food lovers, and at this new cafe, you can enjoy personalized snack boxes, sandwiches, salads and desserts for dine-in or take-out. Acts of Graze has been a charcuterie board and table caterer since 2021, specializing in classic snacks and brunch platters. It will continue to offer catering services while operating its first brick-and-mortar store.

The dog-inspired (and dog-friendly) restaurant and bar announced earlier this week that its Atlantic City location will close on Sunday, August 11. Known for its upscale bar snackswhich serves chicken wings, cheesesteaks, and plenty of beer and liquor, is a Philadelphia-based bar that opened a Jersey Shore location in May 2023. “Despite our tireless efforts and dedication to keep Good Dog Bar in Atlantic City thriving, the economic challenges we face here have become insurmountable,” the owners wrote in a final statement. The Philadelphia location, which has been a downtown hotspot for two decades, will remain open.
